Hotel Serengeti Bushtops Serengeti, Tansania
New look for luxury safari lodge
Around 15 years after the opening of the luxury safari camp in the Serengeti National Park, Andrin Schweizer and his team were commissioned to gently refresh the interior design of all guest areas of the camp. The aim of the interior renovation of the luxury hotel was also to strengthen the common design thread between all three camps of the Bushtops Group. The hotel design also serves as marketing for the safari lodge. The twelve exclusive bungalows, as well as the Messtent, which includes a bar, lounge and restaurant, were completely redesigned as part of the hotel renovation to meet the expectations of travelers - it is not uncommon for a stay to be a “once-in-a-lifetime experience”.
Regional materials with contrasting tones were used for this purpose, the noble shades of which match the exquisite concept of the glamping camp: African acacia wood as well as local natural stone. The back walls of the open shower, for example, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of passing animals, are covered in the same material.
A temporary home away from home
As part of the renovation, the hotel interior design team created bespoke furniture that was produced locally. For example, the luggage racks, bar niches and built-in furniture were made exclusively for the luxury camp. Overall, the rooms are reminiscent of scenes from expedition novels thanks to their subtle interior designs. And yet - in the middle of the Serengeti - they offer every comfort, including 24-hour butler service, a hot tub on the terrace and stable Wi-Fi.
